Bucket Privacy Policy

Effective July 2026

Bucket is a personal bucket list of places. It was built so that your data stays yours. In short: we don't collect anything.

What Bucket stores, and where

The places you save — names, locations, categories, notes, photos, and journal entries — are stored on your device and synced through your own private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit). The developer has no server and no access to this data.

Screenshots and shared content

When you share a screenshot or image, text recognition runs entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. The image itself never leaves your phone. Only the recognized place-name text is sent as a search query to Apple Maps to find the matching place.

Location

With your permission, Bucket uses your location to show distances to saved places, bias place search near you, and (optionally) remind you when you're near a place you saved. Location is used live on the device and is never transmitted to the developer.

Third-party services

What Bucket does NOT do

Deleting your data

Delete a place in the app to remove it everywhere. Deleting the app and its iCloud data (Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage) removes everything permanently.
